T.C.C. GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP - 2010 - 17th of June 2010

The second TCC Golf Championship was held at Thornbury Golf Centre on Friday 11th June signalling 28 cricket club members to swap willow for iron and stake their claim for the coverted TCC Golf Championship cup.

The variety of red faces that eventually left the course were certainly more due to the brilliant sunshine rather than standard of golf (in most cases !) as a fantastc day was had by all thanks to the excellent organisation by John Wormwell & David Hammond.

The spoils were spread out but the overall individual champion was Greg Stephens posting a stableford score of 43 with Rich Trotman and Clive Blackwell 2nd and 3rd.

A full list of the winners and competitors can be viewed by clicking below (and yes we have all the scorecards ready for next years handicaps !!??).

A WINNING WEEKEND - 8th of June 2010

All three senior sides won this weekend to restore some much needed confidence within the club.

The 1st XI travelled to newly promoted Ashcott & Shapwick and returned comfortable victors by 7 wickets.

Curtis Blakemore (8.5-2-26-3) and John Wormwell (5-1-22-2) were the primary wicket takers although the Thornbury bowlers managed to deliver 45 wides in Ashcott's total of 148. Kenny Kanishka (30), Greg Stephens (31 not out) and skipper Rich Trotman (38 not out) saw the Thorns home.

Wally Hammond's undefeated 2nd XI maintained their record by defeating the same opposition at the Ship Ground.

Joe Maiden fell cruely short of his first senior ton when he fell for 99, Wally (43) the other major contributor in Thornbury's 240 for 6.

The ever dependable Greg Mallitte continued his fine form (9-3-20-4) but a sensational over by U-15 Luke Franklin who took 3 wickets in 4 balls sealed the win by a commanding 121 runs.

The 3rd XI also produced an excellent display to defeat Hanham by 68 runs at Tockington Manor in a much needed win for Ben Hurkett's side.

No individual statistics are currently available for the 3rd XI game.

MATCH BALL SPONSORS - 12th of May 2010

Thornbury Cricket Club extends a huge thank you to all those who have very generously sponsored match balls this season.

It is a great testament to all our supporters that all home fixtures already have dedicated match ball sponsors including Saturday and Sunday games.

The funds raised are a huge boost to the club, without which the general day-to-day running of the club would be far more difficult.
